I’ll admit - I haven’t been listening to much on the radio in the last week so I was quite surprised when I heard that Virgin Festival had been postponed.
I scooted onto the 5FM site and sure enough, the following announcement is up….
—————————————————–
Virgin Festival - due to have taken place in December this year, has [...]

As lame as it sounds - I was listening to Gareth’s show on 5FM this morning and I found it truly refreshing to hear somebody being super positive about the country!
Too often I think we get bogged down with the negativity and we start our day off negative and end it down in the dumps. To [...]

Normally Grant and Anele’s show on 5FM irritates me to the point of changing station. But today they played a voicemail messgae from a guy (I think his name was Dmitri?). I don’t know whether it was a skit or a real message but I absolutely CANNED myself laughing.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard such a funny [...]

I meant to blog about it the other day when I heard that KB standing in for Fresh in the afternoon….
KB has impressed me a lot in the last few weeks. He has stood in for Fresh and Gareth Cliff and he seems to have good balance to his shows. These are both seriously big [...]

I obviously missed something but I just heard the goodbye tribute to Ruben Goldeberg on 5FM…
Pity - a true radio legend finally taking a well deserved break…

It’s funny how things become topical… I hadn’t heard of this new South African music act called ‘Zebra and Giraffe’ until late yesterday afternoon. I had a mate tell me that they’re a great up and coming act and then suddenly Ruben was talking about them on 5FM this morning. Has anybody heard them or [...]

I always keep an eye on the young generation of radio presenters coming through and at times I have been pretty critical of some of the talent that comes on air. When I head KB was in for Gareth Cliff this morning I cringed… some seriously big shoes for him to fill.
To his credit I [...]

Ruben Goldberg is probably one of the most underrated assets on radio at the moment. If you ever just listen to the way that he keeps a show going or can slide in and inject some enthusiasm to a show that is running flat and he comes across as seriously bright about current events.
I think [...]

Did anybody listen to Tyrone the traffic guy on the DJ Fresh show on 5FM on Friday? Brilliant! The guy was a laugh, it didn’t sound like a skit and the audience loved him.
It was funny, I switched back to Highveld and listened to their traffic people and it sounded so boring it was a [...]
