94.7 Christmas wish list
It’s a very quick blog posting but in terms of a great corporate social investment initiative, the 94.7 Highveld Stereo, Christmas ‘wish list’ is one of the best initiatives out there at the moment.
Every year I think a huge portion of Joburg residents drive to work and listen to some of the heart-breaking stories and the way companies can make an enormous difference to one or two people’s lives.
It is a great initiative run by Highveld and I hope they keep it up.
With the economy in a serious downturn, I urge all South Africans to see if they are able to contribute in anyway to a charity and make somebody else’s life a little better….

Good day,
I’m sending this email because I need help for my sister (Natasha Raath).
She is 26 with 4 kids and a single mother, she used to work at a company and earned a very good salary and bought a house she did very well at the company … to well… you know people don’t want to see other people do well so the top sales started to complain because they saw that my sister is going to do better than them and they want to remain top sales, so the company took her off the campaign where she did well, she had a R20,000.00 drop in her salary that after she bought a house. She had to look for another job where she can earn more money to survive, that unfortunately did not work out because the petrol worked out more than her salary and due to this she couldn’t pay the premium of the house and car. The house and car is now behind and the bank want to take it back. She also had no one to look after the kids so had to resign.
She started now at a new company where she walked 4 and ½ hours just to go for the interview (because her car is broken and she doesn’t have the money to fix it), and is walking every night home from Vereeniging to Meyerton which is 15 km because her car is broken and don’t have money to fix it and no lift. She is working in Sandton get a lift there and then back to Vereeniging. She leave the house at 5 and then only come back at 9 at night. Because the the guy that gives her a lift work until 7:30.
As if this is not enough, she got someone to stay with her in the house, whose father kicked her out, and just asked her to look after the kids because she need to work, she also have two kids. So they cost her allot as well. Then the lady that stayed with her worked together with her mother and another lady to report the case to the welfare to take away the kids, because they wanted to get the money from the welfare if they look after the kids. The kids was dirty when the welfare lady got there because the lady that is looking after them did not clean them and dress them nicely for the day. Thursday she just got a call at work and the lady that stayed with her said that the welfare took the kids. She had no contact number and did not know where to look for them she was devastated. She took the bus because she thought that she will be home earlier but the bus only went to Alberton and no further transport from there. So she decided to walk, two guys walked behind her and wanted to get next to her but she saw them and ran across the road in front of a oncoming vehicle, they wanted to follow her but saw the car stopped and hid behind the tree. The lady that stopped next to her didn’t want to give her a lift because she was afraid she might get hijacked but at least drove next to her to the garage. “Thank Lord”. She got home very late and was worried about her kids, she organized a lift to the police station and only got to see her kids 11 o’ clock that evening. They were at the lady that worked together with the other the welfare gave her custody for 48 hours.
She also doesn’t have furniture in the house.
Can we please get help for her urgently.

Hi 94.7
I have a concern about 1 of your wishlist this moring 20/11/08 for Fatima Frederick’s. I would like everybody to know that what was said in that wish is so not true. The part of them not having a place to stay is true. She however knows why she has so much debts & he never treatend Fatima & the kids. He always worked and supported his family. She divorced him 2 days before he killed himself and he did every in his best to be there for his family. If she really wanted a house so bad she just had to be honest not send lies. She should get her facts straight. As far as the school fees are concerned if the parents are not by the means to pay for the kids fees they have people that sponsors for kids like that and the school won’t send her away knowing the story. I am happy for the kids that they will have a place to stay, but don’t talk bad of the dead as that person is not here to defend himself. My his soul rest in peace.
Regards
Very disappointed
Hi
My name is Bethany Fisher. My best friends Mom, Winnie is in desperate need of finances for a kidney transplant.
Our church had a concert in aid of funds for Winnie. The church also had a fun day for Aunty Winnie. On December 13th we will be having a banquet also in aid of raising funds for Aunty Winnie. Her husband David spoke to the church last week saying that they have found a match. I understand they now have to apply to the Government for this transplant to take place. Uncle David’s medical aid is over exhausted.
Should you require more information you may contact Pastor Jason on 0834551406
Below is the profile we use at church for fundraising.
I trust this is in order

Winnie Pieters
Winnie was born Ladybrand Free State on the 02nd July 1959. She is the second daughter of the late Miss Liza Sieberts. The family relocated to Heidedal Bloemfontein, where she started her school career. She unfortunately lost her mother in 1975 and this had impacted very negatively on her. She unfortunately did not complete her high school career and had to seek employment to support herself.
In 1977 she met David Pieters and in 1979 the two were married. Three children Cerrone, Sylvana and Matthew were born out of the union, Celine later joined the family.
Winnie was first diagnosed with kidney problems in 1992 as her had a lot of pain in her back and the consulting doctor referred us to an Urologist. The specialist then performed a bi-opsy to ascertain where the problem was. The specialist the referred her to a nephrologists who the diagnosed that one of the kidneys had become sclerose. She was then put onto medication to control the functioning of the kidney. Winnie continued taking the medication for a period of time until the pains came back. We then went back to the doctors just to be told that the nephrologists that saw had relocated overseas and we had to start all over again. Our new general practitioner then referred us to a new nephrologists, who diagnosed that she had renal failure and that this time both kidneys were not functioning at all, she was then put onto a course of chronic medication and was subsequently also put onto dialysis which she had to have three times a week. The other option we had was that she be put onto the list for transplanting. There are three ways we could do the transplanting; firstly a relative or a child or anyone willing to be tested could offer to donate a kidney. We also have to apply to the minister of health for what is referred to in layman term, cadaver. A cadaver is a person who died or is brain dead and had made his or her organs available for transplanting and thereby giving another person the gift of life.
The nephrologists in conjunction with Netcare transplant division and Discovery Health have in principal approved the transplant, however the tests that are carried out to check her values as at any given time if and when kidney becomes available she will have be admitted within 24 hours to hospital. These tests which are carried out by either the South African National Blood Services and the Pathology Laboratories are the institutions which take most of our money as the medical aid only pays a certain portion of the accounts.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Pastor Jason Fisher and all the members of Florida Community Church
God Bless.

I would like to nominate my cousin Charlene Smith for the Christmas Wish. She is such a special person to all of us born with a disfigured face and a heart of gold. She had operations when she was small but not with a lot of success. Her parents have now started with the reconstruction of her face as she had to be grown up to start with the procedure it is costing a lot of money which they do not have and she passed matric while have terrible megraines. She went to all the normal schools and was teased untill they got to know her. On her Matric dance she went alone with a stride in her walk as she looked fabulous we did her hair and make up. She won 2 trophies at her school after that evening, everyone knew her heart of gold. My Christmas Wish for her is that someone would help her with the reconstruction of her face, to help with fees for her studies and maybe a little car for her to drive around with. Charlene is our Angel no matter what but this would mean the world to her. Please help her. Thank you

Hi my name is SSgt Richard Ramsey currently stationed at Pope AFB nc. I am writing this letter today because I am ashamed of myself and I realy feel like a failure in more ways that one. I have been active for 12 years been deployed 5 times overseas i have a wife of 11 years with a 14 year old son and a 16 year old daughter. My wife recently had surgery on her neck and found out that she had cancer on her thyroid. Due to these discoveries she can not work anymore, or at least for quite a while and her income has supplemented the family income. Now we have barely enough money to pay our bills. Sometimes food is set to the side. We can not afford a freaken thanksgiving dinner. So we have decided as a family to go down to the local rescue mission on thanksgiving and serve meals all day to the homeless. Christmas well what christmas. I told my kids that I would give them each some money and they are fine with that, it is just that not having a tree or presents under is making my wife depressed. So I am reaching out to you and anyother company or family that wouldnt mind sponcoring us for christmas. We had to give our living room set and bedroom set back because we could not afford the payment anymore, however Someone gave us a couch and I purchased a bed and dresser at a yard sale, so we are fine with that. My truck is in the shop and my other car needs repairs badly but will have to wait. By far am I begging, i just wish that someone could help and if not, i will let god be god. Happy Hollidays.
I’m writing on behalf of my mother, Mrs Jolene Gous, of Windhoek, Namibia who wishes to extend a wish to your good selves.
Firstly, thank you for all the wishes you have made come true.
My wish is for my sister, Henrietta Koester. She is a pensioner of 73 years old who lives in an old-age home in Bellville, Cape. The address is “Huis Boland, Chrismar, Bellville” and tel no 021 948-2816.
She has no medical fund (has been a Government employee during her working life). She is thus dependent on the Government Health Services. She suffers from 1) a constant dizzy head, and accordingly has no balance and can not even stand upright without falling over; 2) a weak bladder, with no control whatsoever; 3) a constant back-ache due to arterio sclerosis (or so I think!) which also impairs her walking. She can barely walk.
The last time she managed to get to the doctor (for getting along in any way is a very painful and tedious process), he (the doctor) told her there is just nothing to be done for her and that was it. I reckon (only my personal opinion, but valid it seems) the Government/State only regards her as too old and not worth spending Health Care time and money on, especially in view of the fact that the SA Government’s policy is for primary health care only.
My wish is therefore that she could be examined thoroughly by a specialist(s) to see whether there is really nothing that can be done to ease her circumstances and give her a better quality of life, or if not, at least an electric wheelchair (she doesn’t have much muscle power left). If not possible, any wheelchair will however be an advantage and she’d be very, very grateful.
She has had a very difficult and tough adult life, a very sad, violent and humiliating marriage and I would so much wish for her to have a comfortable old age, at least without one of the ailments she is suffering from, or a wheelchair to make things a little easier in the twilight of her life.
And now, thank you for at least reading this plea. It already helps to talk to people who really care and who try to actually do something for a soul in need.
Best regards and a most blessed Christmas.
