Defining “cool”
Ok I’m out of my depth here, so I’m going to throw it out to the blogosphere and see if some collective creativity can give me some ideas.
The problem
I’ve taken over doing some of the marketing function for Pirates Club in Greenside. The club has lost a lot of its social appeal as a destination and I guess we’ve been charged with trying to turn this around.
From a practicality perspective its a great venue (admittedly its a bit run down) but no more so than many of the other sports and recreational clubs in the Province.
We’ve got cheap drinks, we’ve got food and we’ve got a bit of music going, but the problem is that we can’t seem to attract fresh faces in.
My question
The question I am trying to answer is how the hell do you get people to start attending your venue?!! I’m open to all ideas.
Some of the suggestions that have come in, include:
- A higher profile band than the usual one man band we’ve got going
- Dotting the room with some attractive promoter type gals (yeah!)
- Comedians
Bear in mind we do have some budgetary constraints so we have to be a little bit choosy about how we spend it.
I can’t even define the clientele… We’ve got some older members who are the stalwarts, we’ve got some youngsters who spend a few bucks and then we have the guys that pass through after a sports game…
I want to define whats “cool” and how to lift the profile of the place without blowing $$$$ but I feel like I’m grasping at straws…
Any takers?
