DJ Fresh and small business initiative

I am quite getting into this thing that DJ Fresh has on in the afternoons where SMEs have the chance to plug their services via radio.
It’s an excellent platform for small business to get exposure and its a really nice initiative from 5FM to the listeners. From a business perspective its also a good way [...]

Evening radio…

It is probably just me and my lack of culture showing through again but…. (!) … what are the decent evening radio shows these days.
I used to listen to Revin John and Lloyd Debruyn on Highveld religiously when they were on. These days I hardly feel inspired to switch on the radio in the evenings.
Am [...]

Craziness of Xenophobia issue

This Xenophobia issue has me completely puzzled now…
The Somalians at a refugee camp are on hunger strike and threatening to kill eachother if any Somalians accept South African aid…. Ok so we want aid you and you can go back to your own country where there is obviously an abundance of food and jobs?
The Nigerians [...]

Simphiwe joke on Highveld

Jeremy Mansfield and “Simphiwe” don’t mess around when they take a swipe at somebody…
The team made fun of Bafana Bafana and Benni McCarthy pulling out of the side. Simphiwe’s argument was that Bafana Bafana were useless anyway and the only time South Africans beat won anything was when they BEAT FOREIGNERS AT HOME….
Hilarious but pretty [...]

Well done Gareth - a good way to start the morning.

I have been following The Fugitive competition on 94.7 Highveld Stereo and it occurred to me that the competition hasn’t really been a success this year.

A week or so ago I was saying how the competition is probably one of the most gripping and exciting competitions on South African radio at the moment. But judging [...]

Sundays Lyrics quiz…

Ok we thought we would have a bit of fun and put in a Sunday lyrics quiz…
Song and Artist for the words below:
I’m holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I’m hearing what you say
But I just can’t make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me [...]

Review – Chess the Musical

I would hardly call myself a cultural butterfly but I would like to think that if I went to watch a decent theatre production I would be able to enjoy myself.
I went to watch “Chess – The Musical” at the Pieter Toerien theatre at Montecasino and put bluntly – the only thing that kept [...]
